Bahrain to host third Asian Youth Games

Bahrain is preparing to host the third Asian Youth Games from 22-31 October, bringing together more than 2000 young athletes aged 14-17 from 45 countries. The announcement was made during a grand ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Manama, where the official logo was unveiled.

Organized in less than a year following the withdrawal of the original host Uzbekistan, the Games will feature 21 sports and 26 disciplines, with 207 events planned. HE Mr. Faris Mustafa Alkooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee confirmed the participation of 94 male and 92 female athletes, as well as mixed events. Venues will include iconic venues such as Khalifa Sports City, the Bahrain International Circuit and the Royal Golf Club.

Speaking at the event, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), underlined the importance of the Games as a platform to showcase Bahrain’s world-class facilities and commitment to youth and sports. “The Asian Youth Games provide an invaluable opportunity to raise awareness of the facilities available in Bahrain,” he said, emphasizing the country’s commitment to fostering stable relations across Asia.

The newly unveiled torch-shaped logo integrates the Arabic letters for “Bahrain” with the Olympic flame and the Asian Games sun emblem, symbolizing unity, ambition and inclusivity. The design reflects the spirit of sportsmanship and highlights Bahrain’s national identity through its bold red hues.
